It is the responsibility of the cinematographer to shoot a story on camera and control the way it looks and feels through the use of different lighting and camera techniques. The cinematographer is key to bringing the director’s vision to life.

RAFT gives you practical hands-on experience which would help you understand both the technical and aesthetic aspects of cinematography.

Course Overview

Students get to learn about lighting, handling 35 mm and 16 mm motion picture cinemas, photographic storytelling techniques, photographic aesthetics, location lighting pictures, complexity in lighting, and crane operation. 

By the end of the course, students would have had the opportunity to develop their skills to a level where they can blend sensitive visual imagination with agile application of technology. Emphasis is laid on a complete understanding of color and its reproduction in both analogue and digital environments. Students also will get to know about image manipulation, color grading and postproduction facilities in the lab.
