Diploma in Audio Recording and Sound Designg (Audio & Sound Mixing)

In film-making, the principle often used is to look good and feel good, it should always sound good. A sound engineer’s expertise is required in almost anything and everything that deals with voice and music… and the job often is to ensure a perfect sound track free of distortion.

A good sound designer is the one who blend the right technology and brings about a fresh appeal to a film. At RAFT, we educate you on how to achieve this.

Course Overview

The focus in the academy is to make one realize the importance of sound in the way it shapes the final narrative on par with the visual world. Students are introduced to the principle and process of sound from analog recording to modern digital technology including international standards such as MIDI, SMPTE standards, and dubbing, music and song recording in stereo & 5.1 Dolby SR, Dolby digital, DTS.

Practical sessions will concentrate more on recording equipment, microphones, sound mixers, and various components of sound ranging from the use of music to dialogues, and from sound effects to special synthesized sounds. Techniques of sound recording in cinema, such as live recording of sounds on location, and dubbing processes will be taught.

By the end of the course, students will be able to layer several tracks of dialogues, music and effects to be used in a homogeneous manner to elevate the narrative. These will culminate in one actual recording exercise where students can produce a virtual sound space.
